Relationship Communication
Here we go again! Another husband and wife relationship issue! And this time it rotates around communication.
Just recently, my husband and I had to sit down and deliberately choose to communicate after a particularly frustrating day where we were going in our own directions. From that discussion , where we were deliberately turning our relationship coaching skills to save our own relationship, we discovered that communication in our relationship was indeed at the root of our present problem.
Furthermore, we were able to see, from our knowledge of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator(R), that our mis-communication was coming from the different perspectives of Sensing and Intuition. (see www.personalitytypes-relatingwell.com for clarification) My husband sees the day-by-day tasks that need attention, and attends to them faithfully. I, on the other hand, see the projected vision of where we need to go, and am always working forward toward those goals.
Our disconnect comes in not seeing the middle ground between our perspectives, and as a result, we can both feel lonely and unsupported by each other. As we take the time to communicate and pray together, we discover that middle ground disappearing, and we begin to blend the creating and the managing of our dreams into a productive blend.
Communication from our hearts, being understood, and understanding others, is at the root of intimacy and personal satisfaction. Whether among spouses, family members, friends, or fellow-workers, relationship communication is a must if we desire a mutually-satisfying relationship.
So what are some things you can do to improve your relationship communication?
- Be willing to open your heart in appropriate measure to those you want to relate to.
- Set aside time for the development of successful relationship through communication.
- Seek to understand the natural perspective of the person through Type understanding. (see website www.personalitytypes-relatingwell.com)
- Get relationship coaching! Become a student of Type, relationships, and communication skills.
- Practice with patience. Your love will shine through as your efforts are seen by others.
- Give the other person time to learn to trust your sincerity & efforts.
- As you save your relationship, you will find new joy in your life.

I agree with the article. There must be an open and healthy communication between couples to make it happy and lasting.
